I am also acquainted with with the "wine witch", that nagging voice inside your head that says "oh you deserve this", "just a glass, it's been a rough week", "this deserves celebration"... and so on. She's silent the months I don't drink at all. Which is why I am considering going teetotal. Despite the wine witch, my drinking is limited to a few glasses per month. But I don't like her.
