Status Updates From Keywords: The New Language ...

I am reading this from front to back, even though I guess it can be read or used as a glossary/dictionary. Each entry is a short essay. I like it so far (I have read through A and B; C is rather long).

As an aficionado of Raymond Williams' original Keywords book, I was happy to order this when a friend recommended it. It looks good so far. I'm reading a lot of books at once because none of them fully engage me. I should probably finish one of the ones I'm reading.

I think I’ll read a chapter or two at a time. I wasn’t sure if being organized like a dictionary would work but all the concepts are connected enough that it’s been working. I find the descriptions of the words compelling enough that I both don’t want to stop reading and find it stressful to read. Last line on page 71: “…a practice of consumption masquerading as a practice of citizenship.” Yup.
