...and this is distressingly difficult to read, for the huge amount of research that has gone into it. There is definitely a lot of knowledge there, but it is quite hard to glean it out of the writing.

Enjoying these tales of Canberra, anecdotal, discursive and selective though they are. In Canberra's Centenary Year, this book won the 2013 ACT Writing and Publishing Award. It was also shortlisted for the 2013 NSW Premiers History Awards.
