Status Updates From Vancouverism

This is a very long chapter, but I'm just stunned by the insane amount of effort and planning that has gone into this city. A lot of the things I've seen time and time again in that city that give it so much life and character aren't just random outgrowths of the market (looking at you, Houston), but the result of purposeful planning, regulation, and possibly above all else, community engagement.

This chapter was dense and had the most depressing ending - Downtown Eastside & the non-existent affordability of the city are truly some of the worst aspects of it, and its clear that Beasley is not at all even close to pleased with the fact that they couldn't make it better than they did.

This is a well organized book and I’m already very excited to visit Vancouver again to check out some of the noted areas and see what Beasley talks about in action!
