Status Updates From No Matter

most poems convey an annoying and neurotic way to see the world. there was a poem that was vaguely horny david bowie fanfiction—something which said little but could have stood to say less. every once in awhile, though more seldom than i’d like, there’s a poem that’s breathtaking, which pushes me to keep reading, but i’m really not having a good time with this

i’m finding this really frustrating so far. the poems are written in a stilted manner that scrambles my brain and thoughts from one line to the next often feel completely unrelated or incongruous, even when they are part of the same sentence. there are great ideas in here, sometimes, but then there’s also a poem titled “Insta” that asks the question “what if dido had instagram?” and reads like fanfiction
