I dunno. This is the last book in the series but it plays tropes straight so far.

Parallel planes. Everyone's related to each other. These ironically make the world feel small, like how in Star Wars only Skywalkers/Palpatines/Kenobis can be important.

Rinaldo is 10% done

This demonstrates the trappings of Medieval European fantasy. If you're not careful, it's too easy to slide to a drab, joyless, overly gritty world. Also if you have Battlemages who only spam fire as offensive spells, it will feel like unimaginative, run of the mill magic.
