Emma Southon, every other page: I think that we shouldn't consider the sources credible, because they're men, and men are misogynistic.

I thought the tone would make this more interesting but it makes it feel more trivial

I think my main problem with this book is that it is, by necessity, a lot of speculation and I just don't feel super grounded in the facts.

This is a little tough because of how many people share names, which isn't really something the author can help. I appreciate her calling out modern examples of similar political moments so I can better understand the impact of these actions.

The PS Trajan I love you letters, the nickname that Southon and her friend coined for the letters of Pliny the Younger to Trajan, is now the only acceptable term for these now thank you and good day
