STATIC v. DYNAMIC: Hope is a dynamic character changing into a more independent person."But I can learn from my mistakes to become a better person"(Pg 156). All Hope wanted to do when she went to middle school was to be a normal person at school and blend in with everyone. But as she learns from her mistakes and starts to be more understanding to people Hope starts to be an independent person.

ASK QUESTIONS: I have been wondering about if Hope is going to make a new friend at her new school.Hope has always had a friend from elementary school named Sam but now they have no classes together this year.So far Hope has been talking to this girl named Camila Rosa Rivera in Spanish class."Whats your name?I ask Camila Rosa Rivera she says proudly'(Pg 45)This shows that Hope is trying to make a new friend.

Hope is really nervous because there is this boy that is in her science class who keeps tormenting her and she can't seem to get away. He has learned her name. once school is over she tells her mom about it. I think they are trying to tell you that if something or someone is bothering you, you need to let someone know about it as soon as you can.

Hope was so scared for school. She had no classes with her best friend Sam. " Starting right now. please open your textbooks to section 13. Feeling energized, I pull the textbook out and flip to page 13." She embarrassed herself then a boy made fun of her for making her mistakes.

Hope has a best friend and her name is Samantha but she goes by Sam. They are excited for their first day at JFK Middle School. Sam likes this boy who she went to camp with. She talked about him all summer and he was moving to their school! They got to school and were in awe at how big the school was, how many people were there.
