"Instead of worrying vainly about being liked, loved, or respected, individuals should concern themselves with what others expect of them. Expectations rule the future of relationships."

The reality… is perceptually complex. Simplistic seeing and getting are perceptual constructs custom-manufactured only for overprotected, nongrowth-oriented children, highly vulnerable to manipulation …They are usually fantasy-defined by media as the "in-crowd." Their reality is usually that of the losers, the used, the persuaded, the patsies, the appropriated.

Quote. "It should be apparent that modern societies, pursuing mindless exploitation of human and natural resources, actually ensure their demise, perhaps even eventual extinction."

It is really interesting to read this 1993 version. Especially the parts where the author shows where a government first said A, then recanted A and said B and then it came out that A and B were both false only a few years after the book was published. Still, the whole subliminal thing is scary.

So far VERY interesting. (Especially the part where the person who wrote the forward mentioned that this book used to be read in every high school and university in, at least, the US starting at 1874. I never even heard of it until a few days ago; wish it was still part of the curriculum.
