the hard r slur in ariel was a mfing jumpscare and unfortunate bc i rather liked it otherwise, and have enough literary knowledge to understand the reference to lady godiva

death & co is also very cool and a more understandable one

sylvia plath being the first poetry collection you read is not for the weak 😭

“the night dances” rides the line of enjoyable without context, and then followed with admiration and awe once the meaning is unpacked and the historical context is applied

lady lazarus & tulips are also great, and this line from morning song is exquisite

“i’m no more your mother
Than the cloud that distills a mirror to reflect its own slow
Effacement at the wind’s hand.”

just so we’re clear, im far too stupid for these kinds of poems

UGH I LOVE when my authors are actively suicidal and muse about death and the like

“the applicant” is excellent
