Done with part 1! So far my favourite character is Katya, the 18 year old radio operator in Stalingrad.

omg, this has taken me forever to get to this point. i feel like im still super close but once its done that will be a relief. it’s been dense, but very well written. i do like VG’s writing style and his characters are complex and multifaceted and interesting. he really is a magnificent writer it’s just this book is taking me forever….
