Honestly, I forgot I even started this. I renewed it in Libby. Maybe I’ll pick it up again. But the plot of dumb girl goes into dangerous forest and is thirsty for the mysterious stranger (obviously the prince) is getting stale. I know literature is filled with these plots, some of which are beautiful and intriguing, but this dumb girl keeps going in the forest every. Single. Day.

Bored. 2 very young adults wander the forest discovering insta- love. Exactly 6 characters, including a mysteriously missing dad and the forest itself. All of them are very flat.

And now we've finally reached the plot twist I knew was coming before I even reached the halfway mark. Aiii, this book. 😅

They aren't going on about the prince's "ebony eyes" anymore, at least, but now the protagonist keeps "nibbling her lip" every time she's nervous (which is at least once every chapter) and it's driving me insane. It's not as repetitive as Powerless, but goodness, it's close. 🥴

I swear if I hear the phrase "ebony eyes" one more time-

I'm not sure I like this love interest (assuming he is, in fact, the love interest)...
