All in all this book wasn't for me, and I had a hard time with pretty much all the characters. I mean, Elle had an alcoholic father and knew Dillion wqs an alcoholic, yet it sure didn't take her long to fall into bed with him. She kept saying she'd never date an addict, but I guess that didn't include ranchers, who doesn't respect her boundaries in relation to her job *facepalm*

Also what the hell? It's one thing to have your mom bring over food every now and then to make sure you don't eat junk food all the time, but for her to come over when he's not home JUST to prepare a roast and then leave again? She's not even having some herself? She's basically his house elf, feeding him as if he's a child and not an adult. That's another red flag right there.

I think I've come to the conclusion that Marie Johnston just isn't for me. This is my second book of hers, and I'm just not feeling it. The characters and the story is just kinda meh to me. And I know this is me romanticizing alcoholism, but Dillion was not what I expected him to be. I haven't read many books about an alcoholic, but his character and behavior was a bit red flag for me. I didn't like him much tbh.
