Status Updates From The Narrow Road to the Deep...

Ao3 is down so I’m back to reading this. It’s no gay fanfic but it’s pretty good so far I guess

Currently not understanding the hype around this book… A classic case of “tell not feel”.

Also really not buying the romantic entanglement because — quite frankly — we’re told absolutely nothing about either of the lovers beyond their appearance. When there’s scores of paragraphs fleshing out the uncle.

Clunky language making me cringe.

I last remember feeling this way reading The Sympathiser.
