Humanity’s relationship with science is fraught with complexity. From agriculture to cells, computing to QM, the scientific method does not filter for benevolence. Science may set the paint palette, the canvas, the brush thickness, but humans will determine how and what to paint. While nuclear physics is not the only field of knowledge with a dark side, its applications are among the most consequential.

Love how bootstrap current was named that way cause the plasma “pulls itself up by its own bootstraps” hahaha so boomer xD so retro

The fact that humans have achieved this always blew my mind “This leads to what is undoubtedly the largest steady-state temperature gradient in the Solar System (and maybe the universe): 50 million°C in the center of the plasma and –269°C in the coils just a meter away.”

That’s it I’m done taking notes or I’ll never finish this book the note taking mental shackles have been removed let’s get to reading right guys 😁

I thought this was a tough read but then I had to read papers again and yeah this book is awesome now

Initially a pretty dry read but getting more interesting now that we’re into confinement for fusion!
