The preface written by Richard Holmes was heartfelt, and the introductory poem to Songs of Innocence was too.
For me, that poem represents Blake’s personal duty to childhood to archive its divine innocence; to capture it and its transience so that it may still be savoured once purity is lost and maturity is gained.
I really appreciate the accompanying illustrations with each poem.
