Status Updates From River

No offense to Ryen, but I really feel like River should punch Wolf in the face multiple times right now and Cat should stop letting himself get beat up.... They're still good characters, but annoying at the moment.

Ok, I know River's supposed to be "normal" and all, but I'm super irked about her reaction to the chicken getting its head cut off. She's like 17, right? But she has to say "cut off its you-know-what" like a little kid & try to save it...

(I still really love this book and, I get it, not all kids grew up butchering animals, but, as a kid who does butcher things, I'm kinda sick of seeing protags who can't handle it)

Ruby's cool, but I don't really care for Amber

Ryen has a reputation for brutally destroying characters... but so far I'm a little disappointed. I think the worst thing so far is what's about to happen to Cat.

I wish River had a better relationship with her mom..... :\

Feeling more comfortable with the story again. I like how light-hearted this part is, though I know not to get used to it :)

I guess I understand why River has to change so much when she goes back now? Idk, it just really threw me off before.

So far, I'm liking this one as a first in the series, but I've stumbled onto a bit of a problem... (and it's a spoiler). When River goes back, she's just suddenly, magically beautiful... I mean, I guess she can't just look like a Fair while in the human world... but I feel alienated from her now & can't relate much anymore. Probably because I read the entire second book with a mental image of her looking humanish...
