Status Updates From A Flower Fairies Treasury (...

Its such a beautiful wee book.

One of my favorite poems in here so far.

"Here's the Dandelion's rhyme:
See my leaves with tooth-like edges;
Blow my clocks to tell the time;
See me flaunting by the hedges,
In the meadows, in the lane,
Gay and naughty in the garden;
Pull me up—I grow again,
Asking neither leave nor pardon.
Sillies, what are you about
With your spades and hoes of iron?
You can never drive me out—
Me, the dauntless Dandelion.

The Song of the Chicory fairy:

"By the white cart-road,
Dusty and dry,
Look! there is Chicory,
Blue as the sky!

Or, where the footpath
Goes through the corn,
See her bright flowers,
Each one new-born!

Though they fade quickly,
O, have no sorrow!
There will be others
New-born tomorrow!"

A friend just lent this book to me, and I'm quite enjoying both the illustrations and poems. For example:

"My berries cluster black and thick
For rich and poor alike to pick.

I'll tear your dress, and cling, and tease,
And scratch your hands and arms and knees.

I'll stain your fingers and your face,
And then I'll laugh at your disgrace.

But when the bramble-jelly's made,
You'll find your trouble well repaid."
