so while it's interesting, it veers back and forth between pollyanna-ish family history musings... and a lot of backpeddling, immigrant-splaning about why illegal acts (identity theft, sneaking over borders) are 'necessary'... it also goes on too long and gets too deep into family history that is less 'memoir' and more 'ancestry.com'... is he 'legal' now? sure... does that legality come with an asterisk? you bet.

not what i thought it would be, but still an interesting glimpse through a very lens of a very specific person's very specific cross-cultural transnational experiences. seeing a number of reviews trying to tie the author, his ethnic background and other characteristics to a plethora of disparate groups and that's a disservice.
