6/12/26 - Really interesting to hear the vulnerability in Andrew’s story on the early success in Wham! and how he knew taking a backseat with the songwriting was the right choice.

I haven’t read in forever, but I’m finally coming back to this. It’s interesting to learn that “Careless Whisper” was one of their first songs- I did not know that. Really enjoying seeing how the group formed and the challenges faced to get there!

I cannot stop thinking about this quote on 186--"Sure, it would have been fabulous to have some of that stardust sprinkled upon me, but he was also my friend and it was a pleasure and a privilege to see him begin to make the most of his abilities". If Morrissey had an ounce of Andrew Ridgeley's empathy, maybe The Smiths would still be together. :/

Ridgeley saying he wasn’t ugly but wasn’t that attractive either when he is one of the most beautiful men I ever did see…

Anyway, I have a feeling this memoir is going to make me cry even harder than the Wham! documentary did. That is a feat as that documentary literally ruined my entire day, and I cried myself to sleep over it.
