A collection of old weird fiction by some of the founders of the genre. To be frank quality of older weird fiction is very hit or miss and I don’t feel the collection was curated well. The author has interspersed his own short stories amongst them make for a rather jarring and unenjoyable experience. He also reads the stories in the audio book version and I found his narration to be competent.

In the middle of some of William Hope Hodgson’s Carnacki stories. Enjoyable but not as wonderfully weird as House on the Borderlands or Night Land.

A mostly enjoyable set so far. Blackwood’s Glamour of the Snow and Wood of the Dead were decent ghost stories. Bradbury’s Pendulum and Dick’s Hanging Stranger were as good as expected from such masters. Even Bloch’s stories were good when he wasn’t name checking the Cthulhu Mythos. On the other hand, A:B:O was incoherent and the Empty House was empty of anything interesting.
