Riding accepts no excuses from her readers and will outright insult us to chase away the narrowheads. At times I start to hate a story but inevitably get smacked with its brilliance. I cannot think of a more better collection of short stories, unless I concede to shrunken definitions that do not allow for the possibilities these stories present.
