reading this after “second coming” is so different, due to the writing style and the fact that this book is from 2018. can’t say i’m surprised that the police impressions of interviewing complainants determines whether they pursue a case. i DO find it important that there’s a researcher who studies non-verbal consent cues and ppl/men can understand them well enough. so what happens if they ignore them? hm!

Nuanced and factual, Robyn Doolittle gives a thoughtful, knowledgable, well researched perspective on the #MeToo movement, the excessive use of the "Unfounded" designation in sexual assault cases, and the necessity of thorough and appropriate investigation in those same investigations. The science of trauma reactions and memory is discussed is a way that is revealing of unspoken bias and assumptions.
