The chapters on Engels are interesting, a shame he never got to finish his history of Ireland. Interesting how an American translation led to The Condition of the Working Class in England to be revitalised (esp. because it's one of those 'acceptable' Marxist texts in academia). Not even central to the book, but translation is interesting in the roles it plays in Marxist development, definitely something to consider.

Really enjoying this book! I'd recommend this for historians of British socialism/communism/ecology though, very much about the ecological tendencies with socialist figures of the 19th and 20th century. Read the chapters on E. Ray Lankester, William Morris and working through the section on Engels right now. Very insightful stuff so far.
