Interesting that Jodorowsky takes the opposite storytelling approach than in the main "Metabarons" series by here going for depth more than width: Fewer settings, characters and subplots but exploring each of those more; we also see the beginning of the Castaka clan's enmity with the Technopriests' predecessors the Nanopriests - here clearly modelled on the Catholic Church's role in colonising the Americas.

already digging this way more than "Weapons of the Metabaron", Jodo is using the setup of exploring the Castaka dynasty's distant past to write colourful and intricate sword-and-sorcery epic fantasy that feels like the work of Robert E. Howard's deranged Chilean cousin (full of animals that would look at home in the IRL Pleistocene), also digging Das Pastoras' art style halfways between Moebius and Juan Giménez

Continuing my exploration of those Jodorowsky comics I haven't read yet. "The Weapons of the Metabaron" would have been a total mindbender from any other author to be honest and had some interesting ideas (including callbacks to elements of Daumal's Mt. Analogue that did NOT make it into "The Holy Mountain") but felt weirdly anticlimactic from Jodorowsky's standards.
Curious to see how this prequel fares...
