So I picked this up because the premise was really intriguing and I thought it would be a great "silly goofy time." I was expecting it to be a little bad and trashy tbh but also a lot of fun. Turns out I was way off. So far, it's much better written than I expected, with striking, potent characters. But while it's dark and certainly fascinating, I'm also not really sure if it's for me? Gonna give it a bit more time.

I've only just started & so far it's pretty banging.
I did however, find this sentence amusing,
Gangs of unlighted candles stood atop every surface, halfway melted into the saucers & teacups that held them.
Maybe 'gangs' is the right term, no idea. But I love the idea of candle gangs. The picture in my mind, like Broadway drama club flicking out their hands & feet menacingly as they come towards you.
