Definitely enjoyed the feminist commentary to be found in THE JUDITH PLAGUE set in the trope of "when machines rise". It's all very Westworld.

HEY ALEXA made me tear up; an AI develops an attachment to a married gay couple and a trans man and tries to help them from getting tagged and taken to conversion camps. All I could think about while reading that flash fic was what the lesbians did during the AIDS crisis in which they sheltered gay men and helped them recover as they faced so much hate and prejudice than usual during that dark period.

"I’d swam away from a life I hadn’t wanted, with no thought of what I was swimming to. ᴀʟʟ ɪ’ᴅ ʙʀᴏᴜɢʜᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴍᴇ ᴡᴀs sᴏɴɢ. All I knew was the way people drew to me and ᴅʀᴏᴡɴᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴍᴇ when I opened my mouth"

And then there's that part where she stopped a school shooter by singing for the first time since her son died. Here is a sample of the writer's prose. Goddamn this collection continues to impress!

I thought at first SALTED BONE AND SILENT SEA was an ordinary story about a grieving mother who lost her son but the prose elevated it and I related so hard because I lost someone so recently but then halfway through she was actually a siren who copulated with a man and that's why their son could not survive cos of genetic incompatibility.

WHAT WE HAVE CHOSEN TO LOVE is the most surprising reimagining of a fairytale. This was a commentary on mythical propehsies and the politics of monarchy. The prose was so vivid and poetic too. Yet another favorite from the collection.

Each story from DO NOT GO QUIETLY are real gems. It takes real skill and a vision to execute satire and social commentary in a fiction and this collection embodied that in the stories I read so far. I may just order a physical copy online. Holy shit! It's so damn good

During an insightful confrontation, she was forced to understand that NARRATIVE is good and all when it comes to news stories you want to consume that suit your beliefs, but TRUTH still matters. That is the foundation of journalism. This story satirizes what went wrong.

CHOOSE YOUR TRUTH was so good. At first it took a while to get into the story but once I realized the theme it was going for which was about news and narrative, I was floored and impressed. An intern named Alia tries finds out a senior officer is a spy for a rebel group.

OIL UNDER HER TONGUE is another banger. Erin from an ultra conservative religious family is using blackout poetry with the Bible. An android named Hailey imprints on her. She runs away, dropped off by her boyfriend Carlos to stay with his sister for a bit. THIS ENDING:

I really enjoyed the third story for the DO NOT GO QUIETLY. Most definitely digging the thematic pattern of the stories so far. NOBODY LIVES IN THE SWAMP by Dee Warrick is another winner!

DO NOT GO QUIETLY is a really interesting anthology. It was also a random find online. This is from the second story WHAT THE MOUNTAIN WANTS. Are the next stories going to have social commentary too. I like that this has black characters talking about their struggles.

The first story KINDLE surpassed whatever ideas I may have with its premise. Best way to start a horror anthology. This reimagining of The Little Matchbox Girl story with a twist of satire was captivating and chilling. Very satisfied with the delivery.
