Like most teenagers, Anne feels Alienated— but it is in a situation where she cannot have any outside interaction and is stuck only with her family. This is a stark contrast to how she was when the book first started. Anne was just a happy, typical kid who went to school. Now, she can't go anywhere. Anne feels misunderstood by her mother and sister. She feels understood only by her father but not always listened to.
