Status Updates From The Royal Family

There’s a lot of repetition but it’s all to a strong effect, and there are plenty of things happening to keep the story interesting. It’s a long one, though, and I’m feeling the length.

Only 200 pages after reading this for a week - the pages are massive and the text is small, so I’m in deeper than the numbers show. It’s fantastic so far, very focused in comparison to most of Vollmann’s work and full of some of the best characters he’s written. Very dark ideas in here, not an easy read at certain points.

It has its claws in me.
