This book is phenomenal. The author does such a great way bringing color to the people, places and situations. I love how he does the occasional “meanwhile back in England” chapter.
A quick note: while the book does have over 770 pages, the epilogue ends on 564, leaving footnotes for the remaining 200+.

A fen is a type of peat-accumulating wetland fed by mineral-rich ground or surface water. It is one of the main types of wetland along with marshes, swamps, and bogs. Bogs and fens, both peat-forming ecosystems, are also known as mires.
