Describing Magnus as down bad would be an understatement 😭

flyting was super disappointing, literally used the power of friendship to win. it was built up to be a battle of insults and i was so let down by magnus' talk-no-jutsu. getting kvasir's mead was TOO easy but i suppose the journey for it was necessary to develop mallory's story further. the crows talking about their phd in the norman invasion was super funny. all the apocalyptic buildup for nothing, btw.

I will admit that Riordan eventually managed to make the really annoying and repetitive humour based on the absurdity of the situation, actually work. Not all the time, but it was working more than it was failing which is much better than how it was in the first half of the book. The flyting was... fine?? Magnus really power-of-friendship'd his way through it which was too easy. All that apocalyptic doom for NOTHING.
