The group that was complimented by growers performed equally as well as the group that was actively insulted by growers. It was the group that was left to grow in silence that didn’t perform as well. Plants don’t care what you say to them, so long as you’re there. Living beings don’t care how you treat them. We just don’t want to be alone.

When the pain is too much for the mind, we take it out on the body.

Pigs are smart creatures, third after humans and chimpanzees, but they can’t look up. Something to do with their anatomical structure; no pig can look directly up at the sky. I think they know there must be something else to the world, pigs. Something they’re not seeing. I think they’re looking for it—what’s up there—they’re just looking in the wrong place.

Everybody has a body, but you will always feel like an intruder in yours.
