The way the author pushed the story is a bit abrupt though, usually some crew will connect in suddenly and share some surprising finding. Also a bit male gaze, we are forced to emphasize a man in his midlife crisis and tried to get over it with yellow fever

Many aspects appeal, but I already wonder if I am going to choke on this, because in the intro he states he wants to create an essentially pacifist novel... I'll have to see just what that means to the author
