Status Updates From Free Fall (Mark Beamon, #3)

Only the final chapter to go. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading the next one in this series, perhaps before the end of 2024. Stitch is still luxuriously sprawled across my lap savoring the heat from the sun and the wonderful fire. He is so soft and cuddly. Being home more with our cuddly fur babies has been a huge blessing this year.

In the home stretch with less than 20 pages to go in this gripping novel. I’ve been enjoying reading by our extra warm fire in our blue kitchen stove this afternoon with Stitch nestled in my lap and enjoying Java nog. Will be going out on a few errands later after I finish. So good!!

Savoring a relaxing Friday morning reading here at 36 ORD on the cozy brown couch overlooking my winter scene on Lake Decatur listening to smooth jazz with a winter scene overlooking a river & mountain range in Switzerland. I agree with the Boston Globe review this is “Gripping.” I will be finishing this today for sure!

Getting close to finishing this book (starting Chapter 45) with some after lunch reading today with Stitch nestled in my lap the whole time. I had a very relaxing & restorative hot stone massage today. Buzz has been sleeping in the settee by the fire Larry built. My slower pace on sabbatical continues to be refreshing. We have a nice blanket of snow. Looking forward to OCS this evening.

Living the dream by the fire in our kitchen listening to lovely jazz music and watching it snow over the lake visiting with Larry. Savoring my peppermint mocha coffee. Heading out for a hot stone massage therapy session.

I made it to Chapter 42 last night after we watched the first half of Survivor 47 season finale which was very good & a wonderful evening visit with Ethan after we ate our $5 Kroger sushi for dinner that has become our Wednesday evening tradition. I enjoyed my day in Springfield attending Capital City Toastmasters, lunch at Abe’s Hideout, shopping at JCPenney & Meijer’s before stopping at Kroger. Happy Day!

Made it to Chapter 37 reading yesterday evening - this continues to be a riveting story. We enjoyed watching a little known movie with Nicholas Cage & Tea Leoni from years ago called “Family Man” with a Christmas vibe due to occurring at Christmas time though it’s not known as a Christmas movie. We are excited the kids will be visiting soon for some holiday time together. We are cherishing this time very much.

Read a little over a late lunch at Panera after my hair cut with Abby at Dali Bliss today. Out doing some Christmas shopping & taking some time for me. Made it to Chapter 32. I am enjoying the intriguing mix of the investigation plot woven with politics. I like Kyle Mills’ writing style a lot and it has been interesting to learn more about climbing too through the eyes of the main female character Darby.

I read a lot yesterday (Monday 12/9) and made it to Chapter 29. It was a really nice break after what is nearing my final round of yard work for 2024. I’ve been enjoying this book which is a murder mystery, third in the Kyle Mills series featuring detective Mark Beamon. It is fast paced & hard to put down. Finding fictional reads with powerful engaging characters to really be a draw for my reading lately.

Sunday reading yesterday at 36 ORD after we went to church service & the holiday lunch with Wayne & Connie got me to Chapter 19. We were ready to relax after such a nice & hearty meal. It was a warmer sunny day here in the low 50s; today will be quite similar so we will soon be heading out for quality time working in our yard doing more fall cleanup before the final pickup for 2024 ends on 12/15 this week.

Read a lot today & made it to Chapter 12. Lots of time reading by a nice fire in our blue kitchen stove at 36 ORD. Had a wonderful day yesterday (Friday 12/6) doing a Christmas cookie baking marathon from 1015 am till 10 pm with my friend Jane that was so much fun & something I’d never done. Less time on my feet today has been much needed for a physical break. I want to read at least 40 books in 2024. 2 to go!

Diving into my third Kyle Mills novel about Detective Mark Beamon on this wintry Decatur evening. Finished the Prologue while waiting for Survivor to begin at 7 pm. The wind is pretty loud this evening, though we are not getting blasted anywhere near as badly as the winter storm hitting VH1 in Spring Lake for the kids this evening.
