I really, really wonder what Gorz would have made of the advent of 3D printing and cryptocurrency since he predicts that the economic system to replace the modern day industrial capitalism will be oriented on decentralized specialization instead of mass production. Or the fact that right-libertarians have taken to alternative economic systems more so than leftists have, for that matter.

I actually find this easier to understand than "Farewell to the Working Class", he spends less time discussing social-science thory and more time on discussing actual economic history. A good deal of "limits to growth" thinking that used to be fashionable around the time Occupy Wall Street was in the news seems like it can be traced back to Gorz, though that's now given way to the "new old left" of Corbynism.

as with the other André Gorz book I read the author assumes the readers to be familiar with a lot of economic and sociological theory I only have a superficial knowledge of at best, but many of the arguments I recognize from environmentalists today just with way less references to Marxist economics revised and corrected
