Status Updates From Sally's Hair

[...] Time is theft,
But in the long run what it takes away
Comes back as something numinous and strange,
That having lived through seems enough.

And so I find myself inhabiting
A kind of no-man's land between the thoughts
Of earth and heaven, living on the line
Between a once and future life, between
The passive and the possible, through words
That see through both of them and see them through.

And the days have the feeling of fiction, of pages
Blank with anticipation, biding their time,
And ever approaching the chapter in the story
Where it ends, and my heart is waiting.
