Status Updates From El Leviatán (selección)

از فصل ۱۵ به بعد هرچقدر هم بخواهیم انصاف بخرج دهیم نمیتوان با هابز مخالف نبود! تمام طرح قوانین طبیعی بر اساس بدبینی شدید به ذات پلشت انسان شکل گرفته. در فصل ۱۷ این بدبینی با سوگیری شدید و جانبدارانه به حکومت پادشاهی مطلقه هویدا میشود. اساس فلسفه سیاسی هابز تا به اینجا ترس است. و بر اساس این ترس حاکمیت مطلقه مرکزی بهترین پاسخ است. از این بابت فلسفه سیاسی هابز به شدت بزدلانه است و افق‌ کوتاهی متصور میشود

Day 3: Part 1 complete. Again, not much Leviathan today, too much to do, but glad to finish part 1. Watching humanity’s physical nature, thoughts and beliefs, war and peace, conform mathematically and philosophically across this part has been titanic. It is to watch Genesis take place before your eyes. As men and laws have coalesced into a mass of power, guiding and changing, we enter part 2… On Commenwealth.

Day 2: At 1.19. Not much Leviathan today. The chapter On Religion stood out. Nothing is more important to a god, or to a sovereign, than belief. A belief of rights, justice, security, defense and the sacrifices required for such gains. Thus, Hobbes introduces “The Contract” with his two major natural laws… and so the shadow of the beast appears in the ocean depths.

فصل‌های انتهایی بخش اول درباب انسان که به طرح‌بندی قوانین و حق و جامعه مدنی می‌پردازد جذاب‌تر و قابل تامل از بودند. هرچند در برخی نظر من کاملا متضاد با هابز بود

Day 1: Through 1.11. I’ve never known what to expect with Leviathan , it seems such a mystery, but it was not this. In a book about society and power, most of the first section is an analysis of human senses and thought in the most base & cellular philosophical level. However, as I enter the jaws of the beast, it seems only inevitable we need a great understanding of human perception to understand how we view power

نایب بسیار سریع به نتیجه‌گیری‌های طبع انسان و رفتارها می‌رسد. نمی‌توانم با اکثر نتیجه‌گیری‌های او موافق باشم.
