So enjoying this book. Her chapter on how the evolution of clocks from less accurate sundial/water run instruments into precision oriented machines that break down the day into units divorced from what’s going on in the sky made me think about time and clocks in a way I haven’t for quite some time.

Really enjoying this book on so many levels. I love the author’s perspective that filters through the facts as well as how she’s looking at her topic. It’s scientific without being reductionist, and spiritual in the sense that it recognizes how humanity has always been oriented to looking for signs, symbols and forces greater than itself.
