I appreciated the recap chapter before the book. This is becoming more popular with series books and it’s helpful.

On one hand I appreciate the "realness" of this series even though it's a fantasy story.
But on the other hand, the realities behind the "realness" are a bummer.
This book is the hardest to get through so far because the entire premise was a bad idea from the start.
If the MC hadn't chosen poorly there would be no book here, but he screwed up in chapter one and everything after that has been an wreck
