From the Forward: In 1951 the Sherlock’s Holmes Society was founded & is devoted to characters instead of authors & literature — & maintaining “the game.” The society treats Holmes as a real person. In their magazine, which is mailed to members, there are articles elaborating on details in the stories as though they really happened. This is “the game”. And these are Holmes’s memoirs.
