I cannot believe it. How have I never taken a chance on that author before now?
Here's to hoping this will not end in heartbreak (for me, I mean) because, oh boy, am I rooting for Eskara! (fingers crossed)

Sadly this is going to be a DNF. I just don’t understand what the point of anything is. I’m not real fond of the MC Eskara. There is so much tell in this book - and for me the style was tough. It’s just very boring.

Interesting story, but feels like a sinking ship because it’s leaking meaning and sense. It started out as a 5 star and now it’s a 3.

I’m interested in the story. Even with heavy themes, the only thing that bothered my reading experience is the narrator talking about the future and the outcome of things. It drains the tension and makes the present frustrating.
