The separation of Mandela from his partner is a heartbreaking tragedy. In this section, the book also masterfully exposes the deceptive promise of monetary wealth, illustrating how inflation and artificial costs erode the savings of Mandela and his fellow veterans.

One of the most recurring themes in the novel is the protagonist’s return to a homeland that has become foreign. The unsettling realization that the protagonist and everyone else on Earth were drugged to be happy and that the elderly were discarded with ruthless efficiency was well-written and gradually developed.
