She needed to prove that she was someone her mom could still like, that there were still bits of Brie that were worth talking to and spending time with and bring proud of. She needed to do this so that maybe, just maybe, her mom could look at her with love in her eyes from the center of the church auditorium as Brie stood on the altar in a pretty dress and crowned Mary. So her mom could forget about the rest of it.
