The Penal Colony was horrific but interesting too. The Old commandant is some twisted version of Jesus to the officer, illustrated by the inscription in his “grave”

There is a prophecy that after a certain number of years the commandant will rise again and lead his followers from this house to reconsider the colony. Believe, and await the day!

The Metamorphosis was so striking. It really upset me though the way he went from being his family’s saviour to their burden. I feel that the story is probably allegorical for some form of gruesome (mental?) illness and that makes me even more sad. Poor Gregor. I will definitely reread this as I don’t feel that I have quite formed a proper understanding. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Judgement is so interesting. Feels one of like a bait and switch. Definitely something to reread as there’s so much of it is allusory
