Movies, TV shows, and romance novels are always subtly (and not so subtly) preaching that, for fairy-tale princesses ... none of the details matter if you're in Love. But does Love always have to mean sacrifice?

Sure, he knew me, but he couldn't know the whole me until he got to know me in my real life - not just in some vacation fantasy.

But this relationship, born of technology, was also relying on technology to sustain itself - to exist.

Without the trash, grit, and severity of New York, San Franciso seemed like a make-believe land.
