Status Updates From North and South

Now the father is dead too. The main character is an orphan

The ideas and characters are great. But I guess I expected the setting to be more. I wonder if Gaskell read The Conditions of the Working Class in England.

Finally picked this back up, I think it just wasn’t the right time in 2024, the story of Margaret was too close to home at the time. Enjoying it way more now especially being read to me by the silky smooth tones of Juliet Stevenson.
