The Anarchist and the Unicorn: On Science, Spirit, and Civilization has, again, interesting ideas but like the previous writing seems to pull from so many different directions. The section about Kropotkin intrigued me a great deal, so I took out a copy, and found that his language is weighed down by racism and colonialist ideology... which is a huge problem if we're trying to use his writings now in ecological theory

So far, there are some interesting ideas being posited, but also a great deal that I'm just not too sure of. For example, in the forward, Paul Devereux talks about Vision quests, and says that they are "also sometimes undertaken is rites of passage by young Indian braves." To my knowledge, Native Americans do not like that term and I'm surprised with all of his worldly experience that he's using it.
