I feel Mayada is a really good example of when people (read: my people) have kids without any forethought or planning outside of providing for their immediate needs. No hobbies, no effort, no interest, no dreams, no advice for adulthood, no follow-ups, check-ins, nothing.

Maybe your kid amounted to nothing because you did nothing. Because YOU were nothing. Maybe, perhaps, a little girl is something. Who knows.
