Status Updates From A Temporary Betrothal

Halfway through, and the “hero” is still in love with the utterly awful cousin, and is being a pathetic jerk about it. I was hoping for some angst but all I am doing is judging the heroine for not having gone home by now.

This was much slower burn than I expected ... a little too much so. You kind of have to squint to see the romance - this would have worked better as a family drama where the h kicks everyone ass and leaves them behind in her dust 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Almost halfway through the book and the romance is yet to start ... I am thinking than author is just not for me.

I think this book was written in ‘95 and ... boy some of the writing tropes have changed.

And ... now I feel old

I’ve never read this author before so I’m not sure if some of the overblown writing is her style or sign of the times ...
