Status Updates From With the Fire on High

The girl in my book is withchild but she is still young. She is balancing so much "Emoni, vete. its time for you to head out. ill fix her hair" (Acevedo 6). She has to balance going to school and also taking care of her child that is two years old. Her grandmother has helped her take care of her child when she needs the extra support.

I really like this book because it has Spanish in it like her 'buela say "que dios te bendigue nena" (Acevedo 7). I really can relate to this book because my family especially my older tias.

I don't necessarily understand the story fully but it seems very interesting with what I've read so far. I like the fact that there's a lot of dialogue, such as "You don't?" "Yes, but I picked it up from you."

i don't know much about the book yet, but i find the fact that Emoni has a very supportive family very sweet. like for example when 'Beula says, "okay, baby Emma! today you're going to be a big girl" (acevedo 8). im enjoying the stuff i kniw so far like emonis love for cooking.

i don;t fully understand amoni's life yet but can tell she is in a stessful situations but is surrounded by a lot of love . " buela lookis like shes trying to swallow a smile as she puts a soft hand on my back and guides me toward the front door"( acevedo 6).

I have loved how it shows how Emoni struggles while trying to navigate life with her child. She shows how letting her child go to daycare has been hard: "Now that baby girl is actually going I'm freaking out"(Acevedo 6)

I wonder how old she is? she wanted to give her daughter a name that sounded soft. "I wanted to give baby girl a nice name."
